In the fall of 2008, The University of Texas at Austin established the W. A. “Tex” Moncrief, Jr. Endowment in Simulation–Based Engineering and Sciences. This endowment provides resources for three new ICES programs including: the Faculty Fellowship Program, the Grand Challenge Faculty Awards Program, and the Undergraduate Summer Internship Program.

The Moncrief Faculty Fellowship Program, has the mission to recruit outstanding junior faculty dedicated to research and academic work in computational engineering and sciences.

The Moncrief Grand Challenge Faculty Awards Program provides resources for UT Austin Faculty to work on ICES research and academic programs related to the Grand Challenges in computational engineering and sciences that affect the competitiveness and international standing of the nation.

The Moncrief Undergraduate Summer Internship Program provides summer support for qualified undergraduate students of mathematics, science, and engineering to work with ICES faculty and research staff on one of
a wide range of research topics focused on developing modeling and simulation methods.
