Making GPGPU easier: Software and hardware developments in GPU computing
Thursday, March 1, 12:30PM – 2PM

With the success of programming models such as Khronos' OpenCL, Heterogeneous computing has been becoming mainstream. However, these systems are low-level, even when considering them as systems. Part of the problem is down to hardware limitations, partly down to ease of use limitations of the programming model and partly due to significant composition failures in the combination. During the talk we'll look at some of the advances that are being made in easing the programming burden in AMD's hardware and in the OpenCL programming model. We'll then discuss a couple of future directions that will help to reduce the composition problem.
