Loren Miller - ICES Board of Visitors

Loren Miller Loren Miller is founder of DataMetric Innovations, a consulting firm “at the Intersection of Science, Engineering, and Information Technology.” His firm focuses on enabling client companies and organizations to meet key performance metrics through data-based process analysis and the implementation of innovative solutions incorporating research, engineering, and information technology. He earned a B.S. in Physics from Iowa State University and his M.S. in Physics from the University of Akron. Loren served as Director of Information Technology for Research, Development, Engineering and Quality Systems; Director of Physics Research; and Director of Tire Performance Modeling at The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. He was responsible for converting from the experimental prototype method of new product development to engineering modeling/simulation-based new product design. He led the implementation of Linux clusters to provide computational resources for engineering modeling/simulation that won CIO Magazine’s CIO 100 Award and was selected as one of the five most innovative applications of information technology in 2006. Mr. Miller initiated and led Goodyear’s partnership with Sandia National Laboratories resulting in the development of new engineering modeling/simulation algorithms and software that made the conversion to computation-based design possible. In addition, the partnership developed technology that enabled Sandia to solve previously intractable nuclear weapons design problems.
